ISMIRA Agency is hiring DECK SUPERVISOR for ASTORIA GRANDE cruise ships!

ASTORIA GRANDE
invites Russian-speaking employees to join its team to work on a cruise ship to Turkey and Egypt with departure from Sochi to the shores of the Black, Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean Seas. Astoria Grande visits the unique ports of the Turkish coast — Istanbul, Cesme, Amasra, Sinop, Trabzon, Ordu, Izmir, Kusadasi, and also stops at the largest port of Egypt - ancient Alexandria, and in the new season also in the beautiful ports of Greece.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deck Supervisor works under the general guidance and supervision of the Chief Housekeeper and within the limits of established Astoria Grande policies and procedures. Supervises the activities of the Housekeeping utility or Hotel Steward, Staff Attendants or Crew service and cabin steward to ensure clean and sanitized, orderly and attractive public areas and guest cabin.

Responsible for the efficient daily operation, work process and cleanliness of the Housekeeping department, including public areas and hallways, guest cabin, pantries, lockers, trolley cart , crew areas, crew quarters crew accommodation crew laundry crew gym, crew bar , the laundry and linen rooms assigned as his/her section, and ensures the fulfillment of all operating requirements.

In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Age 18+
  • Recruitment is conducted from the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.
  • Fluency in Russian is mandatory
  • Knowledge of English - from intermediate depending on the position (knowledge of English is pre-intermediate for basic positions, fluency in both Russian and English is required for higher and administrative positions)
  • A full package of STCW certificates and a seafarer's passport/seafarer's identity card are required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college related education preferable
  • 2 or more year’s progressive management experience in an upscale hotel or cruise ship in the Room Division and/or Housekeeping Departments.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Superior customer service, teambuilding and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, workforce planning and management, leadership techniques and production methods.
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing personalized services including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in the human resources function. Ability to manage the international department heads in a positive and productive manner by motivating, developing and effectively managing crew members.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a constantly challenging environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects crew area, staff cabin, guest cabin, public area and back-of-the-house areas to ensure cleanliness is maintained.

  • Carries out the following routine assignments:

  • Assigns duties to staff and briefly instructs them on follow-up and special projects.

  • Inspects open deck, lobbies, outlets, offices and surrounding areas as needed.

  • Maintains a daily logbook on inspected areas, assignments given to staff, special projects, maintenance deficiencies and significant events/activities during his/her shift.

  • Sees to adequate storage of supply inventories on assigned decks and safeguards against waste, shortages, and losses.

  • Conducts inventory checks as needed.

  • Prepares supervisor report and completes requisition forms for needed supplies.

  • Reports maintenance deficiencies that require immediate attention and follows up on their status.

  • Reports of any loss or damage of furniture, fixtures or equipment.

  • Supervises the proper use and care of equipment.

  • Records any item left in public areas by guests and turns them in to the Reception Desk.

  • Checks the daily assignments and logs and follows up in accordance to USPH, EUPH regulations and Hotel Operations.
