As Maître d’Hôtel, you are at the heart of our guests’ dining and hospitality experience. You oversee service across all restaurant, bar, bistro, lido, and sundeck areas, ensuring every meal and interaction meets the highest standards. Your leadership guides the team, sets the tone for professionalism and warmth, and ensures smooth day-to-day operations. You also step in to manage overall hotel operations when the Hotel Manager and Assistant Hotel Manager are absent, making this a pivotal role in creating memorable journeys for our guests.
Conditions:
Free food and accommodation on board
Seasonal work with contracts from March to November renewable each season
River ships are located in Europe - closer to home
No Safety certificates or Seaman's book required
Possibility to take paid days off and vacation during the season

Duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for the entire restaurant and bar area (incl. bistro / lido) as well as service on the sundeck and the beverage storage according to Scylla standards.
Responsible for the professional serving and presentation of the entire F&B offer on board according to company standards.
Active assistance in the restaurant and bar as well as on the sundeck
Friendly and professional guest service according to Scylla standards.
Communication with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any complaints.
Responsible for guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings
Knowledge of the menu and all drinks incl. wines
Responsible for cleanliness, order and compliance with the Scylla hygiene standards according to HACCP regulations, both in the restaurant and bar area, as well as for regular general cleaning
Responsible for dealing carefully with food, equipment, machines and cleaning products
Help create and implement F&B activities and events on board
Requirements:
Experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience.
Excellent management, organizational and decision-making skills
Guest focused
Able to train crew members, detect training needs and develop tailor-made training
Stress resistant, calm under pressure and resilient
Team player with positive approach
Open minded and flexible
Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural competencies
Professional attitude and appearance
Reliable and hard-working, physical stamina to stand for a long period of time
Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages like German is an advantage.
Computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT)
Age: min. 18 years old
Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
