As Assistant Maître d’Hôtel, you are a key part of delivering an outstanding dining and beverage experience for our guests. Supporting the Maître d’Hôtel, you ensure smooth service across the restaurant, bar, room service, and sundeck. Beyond service, you help train and guide team members, maintain high standards, and contribute to a welcoming and efficient environment. Your work ensures that every guest enjoys a professional, warm, and memorable experience.
Conditions:
Free food and accommodation on board
Seasonal work with contracts from March to November renewable each season
River ships are located in Europe - closer to home
No Safety certificates or Seaman's book required
Possibility to take paid days off and vacation during the season

There are always more openings for German speakers
Some vessels offer free German language courses on board
Duties and responsibilities:
Assist with professional service in the restaurant, bar, room service, and sundeck.
Greet and assist guests, respond to concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
Take food and drink orders and manage a restaurant station for up to 50 guests.
Present and serve food and beverages according to Scylla standards.
Promote beverage sales and provide wine service onboard.
Ensure knowledge of menu offerings, allergens, and guest sensitivities.
Support all aspects of embarkation, including welcoming guests and escorting them to cabins.
Maintain cleanliness and order in line with HACCP and Scylla hygiene standards.
Handle food, drink, and equipment responsibly.
Act as the right hand of the Maître d’Hôtel, assisting with service and leadership.
Support daily team briefings and menu introductions.

Requirements:
Experience in hotel or river cruise F&B operations.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
Guest-focused, calm under pressure, and solution-oriented.
Open-minded, flexible, and culturally aware.
Developing leadership and organizational skills.
Professional appearance, reliability, and physical stamina.
Fluent in English (spoken and written); German is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Positive, collaborative, and committed to team spirit.
Age: min. 18 years old
Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
